Retraction Policy

CHANNEL: Jurnal Komunikasi is committed to preserving the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal follows the relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when assessing and addressing concerns about published articles.

Corrections

Corrections may be issued when errors or omissions are identified in a published article but do not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

Depending on the nature of the error, the journal may publish a correction notice, such as a corrigendum or erratum, to clarify or amend the published record. Examples include typographical errors that affect interpretation, inaccurate author information, or errors in data presentation and calculations that do not undermine the article's overall conclusions.

Correction notices will clearly identify the affected article, describe the changes made, and be linked to the original publication to ensure transparency.

Retractions

An article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that its findings or conclusions are unreliable, or when serious ethical or publication violations have occurred. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:

  1. Unreliable findings: Clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to research misconduct, such as data fabrication or falsification, or serious honest errors, including miscalculations.
  2. Redundant publication: Substantial overlap with previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment, cross-referencing, permission where required, or valid justification.
  3. Plagiarism: Unauthorized or unattributed use of others' ideas, text, data, or other intellectual contributions.
  4. Unethical research: Research conducted in violation of applicable ethical standards, including the absence of required ethical approval where applicable.
  5. Other serious violations: Other circumstances that substantially undermine the reliability or integrity of the article or the scholarly record.

Retraction decisions will be based on an assessment of the available evidence and the seriousness of the concerns. Retraction does not necessarily imply that all authors were involved in misconduct.

Retraction Procedure

When credible concerns arise about a published article, the Editor-in-Chief will assess the available information and may consult the authors, independent experts, relevant institutions, or other appropriate parties as necessary. Authors will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to the concerns.

If retraction is warranted, CHANNEL will publish a separate and citable retraction notice explaining the reason for the retraction. The notice will identify the retracted article and be clearly linked to the original publication.

The original article will normally remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record, but it will be clearly marked as RETRACTED on the article landing page and, where technically feasible, on each page of the PDF. The retraction notice will distinguish the established reasons for retraction from any unresolved allegations.

Editorial Responsibility

The Editor-in-Chief coordinates the assessment and makes editorial decisions in accordance with publication ethics principles and applicable institutional procedures. Where necessary, CHANNEL may consult the author's affiliated institution or other relevant bodies.

The journal will handle cases fairly and confidentially, while ensuring that final editorial actions are communicated transparently to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
