The journal focuses on the changing relationships between media, society, culture, technology, and audiences, with particular attention to the development of digital media, digital platforms, and contemporary media practices. It welcomes interdisciplinary approaches that deepen understanding of media structures, content, representations, production, distribution, and consumption, and their implications for individuals and society, particularly in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

The journal particularly welcomes research examining media developments in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, as well as comparative and international perspectives that contribute to broader debates in media studies and digital media.

Manuscripts that discuss communication in general without a substantive connection to media studies or digital media fall outside the journal's primary scope.
