Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to CHANNEL: Jurnal Komunikasi are subject to plagiarism screening by the editorial team using similarity detection tools, including Turnitin and Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate). Before a manuscript is sent for peer review, authors are also required to submit a Turnitin similarity report as part of the initial submission process.

Manuscripts submitted to CHANNEL: Jurnal Komunikasi must have a similarity index of less than 20%. The editorial team will review the similarity report to determine whether any overlapping text constitutes plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other inappropriate textual reuse. Meeting the similarity threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance, as all identified similarities will be evaluated in context.

Plagiarism is using another person's ideas, words, or work without proper acknowledgment or citation. It may occur in various forms, including but not limited to:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying another author's words or work, in whole or in part, without proper quotation, acknowledgment, or citation.

  • Substantial Plagiarism: Reproducing a significant portion of another author's work without appropriate attribution. Substantiality may be assessed in terms of both the quantity and the intellectual significance of the material reproduced.

  • Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting or rearranging another author's ideas or arguments without properly acknowledging the original source. Although the wording may differ, the underlying ideas must still be appropriately cited.

  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one's own previously published work without proper acknowledgment or appropriate disclosure.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism may be rejected by the editorial team. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, that all sources are properly cited, and that any reused material is appropriately acknowledged.

CHANNEL: Jurnal Komunikasi is committed to maintaining academic integrity and publication ethics throughout the editorial and peer-review process.
