Conflict of Interest
CHANNEL: Jurnal Komunikasi is committed to ensuring transparency, fairness, and objectivity throughout the publication process. A conflict of interest (also known as a competing interest) arises when financial, personal, professional, or institutional relationships may influence, or be perceived to influence, the conduct, evaluation, or publication of scholarly research.
Authors
All authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, or institutional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing their research or the publication of their manuscript. Relevant disclosures may include research funding, grants, honoraria, employment, consultancy, or personal relationships with organizations related to the research.
Authors must include a Conflict of Interest statement in their manuscript before the references.
If a competing interest exists, authors must describe its nature clearly. If no competing interests exist, authors should include the following statement:
“The authors declare that they have no competing interests that could have influenced the research, authorship, or publication of this manuscript.”
Peer Reviewers
Reviewers must disclose any actual or potential competing interests when responding to a review invitation. These may include personal relationships, professional collaborations, institutional affiliations, financial interests, or other circumstances that could compromise their impartiality.
Reviewers must decline the invitation if a competing interest prevents them from conducting an objective and impartial assessment. The Editor-in-Chief will determine whether a disclosed interest requires reassignment.
Editors
Editors must disclose any competing interests related to a submitted manuscript, including personal relationships, recent or ongoing collaborations, financial interests, or institutional affiliations that could affect their editorial judgment.
An editor with a relevant competing interest must not manage or make decisions on the manuscript. The manuscript will be assigned to an independent editor to ensure an impartial editorial process.
Editorial Handling and Transparency
CHANNEL will assess disclosed competing interests on a case-by-case basis and take appropriate measures to safeguard the integrity of peer review and editorial decisions. Disclosure of a competing interest does not automatically constitute misconduct or disqualify a manuscript from consideration. However, failure to disclose a relevant competing interest may result in further editorial action, where appropriate.
